The book
What Bible translation does the series use?
The English Standard Version. Scripture quotations in the book, the lessons, and this site are ESV unless marked otherwise.
What age is this for?
Readers 13 and up. Samuel includes hard chapters and the series keeps them, so the floor is real. Younger readers do fine with a parent in the loop. You know your reader.
Does the series skip the hard chapters?
No. Tamar has a chapter. The medium at Endor has a chapter. David's rooftop has a chapter. Each is told with the weight the text gives it, without graphic detail and without pretending it teaches something tidy.
Is it tied to a denomination?
No. Roots & Mirrors isn't produced by or tied to a denomination. The chapters work straight from the biblical text (1 and 2 Samuel in Book 1, 1 and 2 Kings in Book 2) and stay Scripture-first. Where traditions read a passage differently, the lessons point leaders back to the passage instead of picking a team.
Where do I buy the books?

Can I read some of it first?
Yes. Chapter 14, Five Stones, is free to read here, and every basic leader sheet in the library is free to open and print without an account.
The lessons
What's in a lesson PDF?
A complete 60-minute plan for one chapter: an opener game, the modern story told for the room, the passage with teaching beats, three rounds of discussion questions, and a concrete follow-up. Every outline is readable free in the library. The outline is the map; the PDF is the script, with full leader wording, timing, printable follow-up cards, and your group license.
What's the difference between a plan and a combo?
A plan is the lesson PDF. A combo is the same PDF plus the printable text of the matching book chapter, licensed for your own group. Combos exist so every student can read the chapter without owning the book.
Do my students need the book?
No. Lessons stand alone. The combo edition puts the chapter in students' hands, and the book is the natural companion for any student who wants all 48.
How do lesson packs and credits work?
Choose four lessons for $25, a twelve-lesson quarter for $69, or a whole book of 48 for $199. Redeem your credits on any detailed lesson resources from your account, whenever you need them. Credits don't expire.
Can I use lessons in a homeschool co-op, small group, or camp?
Yes. "Your group" means the group you actually teach: a youth room, a co-op, a small group, a cabin. The license covers teaching and printing for that group. It doesn't cover sharing the files or printouts beyond it.
Buying and accounts
Do I need an account?
Yes, and it's free. Purchases attach to your account so the PDFs live in your library and can be downloaded again anytime.
What's the refund policy?
Lessons are digital and delivered instantly, so sales are final once a file has been accessed or downloaded. If a file is broken or you were charged in error, email us and we'll make it right.
What am I allowed to print or copy?
Lesson plans: working copies for your own teaching. Combo chapters: print for your own group only. No reselling, no posting publicly, no passing files along. The full license lives on the Terms page.
